German doctors have again voted for the most innovative medicines and the most popular pharmaceutical companies. For their choice the doctors name many reasons. Again this year, the themes of innovation and sustainability took centre stage at the Pharma Trend Image & Innovation Award. The Deutsche Herzstiftung e.V. was awarded with the PharmaBarometer honorary prize. Dr. Markus Söder, Bayerischer Staatsminister für Umwelt und Gesundheit was the keynote speaker.

Munich, September 13th: Sustainability and innovation play a decisive role in the health sector. Therefore PharmaBarometer surveyes doctors on which medicines are truly innovative and which pharmaceutical companies convince them with excellent innovation, good service and product quality.
On the evening of September 13th, at the Deutsches Museum in Munich, the Golden tablet Award an the award for the most innovative product were awarded in 2011 for the twelfth time. About 1,500 physicians from ten disciplines were surveyed by the magazine PharmaBarometer in the survey Pharma Trend for their opinion on manufacturers and products. The winners were honoured at the ceremony with the golden tablet for the best pharmaceutical companies and the prize for most innovative product respectively.
As a high-ranking keynote speakers from politics, Dr. Markus Söder, Bayerischer Staatsminister für Umwelt und Gesundheit said: "Our health care is one of the best in the world, the progress in research and technology to improve patient care but also humanity and welfare remain central pillars of our medical care..."
Also this year, the jury, Germany’s specialists as the experts in the evaluation of the therapeutic benefits, particularly recognised new therapeutic approaches.
Particularly interesting are the reasons for the choice of doctors. The survey emphasises the requirements addressed by the doctors towards the pharmaceutical companies. "Being awarded with the Golden Tablet shows that the actions of a company are perceived to be sustainable," said PharmaBarometer editor Dr. Dieter Jung.
Henning Fahrenkamp, CEO of Bundesverband der Pharmazeutischen Industrie e.V. illuminated in his speech "Pharmaceutical innovation in the field of tension between the patient, the benefits and costs," how the extent of pharmaceutical research has achieved successes but also is confronted by obstacles.
The festivities, for this in the healthcare industry well-known event, was again this year a resounding success: in addition to the speakers and the moderator of the evening, the television journalist Florian Fischer-Fabian, numerous visitors came from the health industry, government, academia and media to interact.
Honorary Award goes to the German Heart Foundation e.V.
Social and community involvement also is a high priority for PharmaBarometer. The journal therefore awards a social institution each year as part of the ceremony with an honorary prize. This year the editors chose the German Heart Foundation e.V.
Thus the journal, for the seventh time, promotes an organization that is characterized by exemplary community involvement in health care.
The Deutsche Herzstiftung e.V. is Germany's largest patient organization in the field of cardiovascular diseases and mainly engages in spreading understanding on a healthy lifestyle, on meaningful opportunities for disease prevention and new treatment methods, on the promotion of cardiovascular research and on support of self-help groups.
Prof. Dr. Thomas Meinertz, chairman of the Deutsche Herzstiftung e.V., accepted the check in the amount of € 20 750, - and thanked all the donors. Among the donors are Infectopharm, Baselia, Jenapharm, Nycomed, Roche and DJG - Dr. Jung Group.
